Under Attack!

We are living in treacherous times - days unlike ever before in history. If there was ever a time the church has experienced attack from the enemy, it is now! The enemy is influencing all that is happening on the world scene and in our culture, not to mention our individual lives and the onslaught of darkness that comes against us every day.
I want to encourage you to read Ephesians 6:10-20, because it is perhaps the clearest definition of spiritual warfare, which we find from the pen of the Apostle Paul. It not only assures us that there is a spiritual war, but it warns us that, apart from utilizing the weapons which God has provided for us, we are hopelessly underpowered. This passage informs us of our spiritual weapons. Beyond this, these weapons imply the nature of the struggle we find ourselves in. The weapons that God has given us are those weapons that best repel the attacks of Satan, and thus we can learn a great deal about the nature of Satan’s opposition from simply considering each of the weapons at our disposal.
Let me point out just a few things and give us some hope as we fight the good fight of faith. Paul tells us to put on the whole armor, that we will be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. That we will be able to resist in the evil day and having done all, STAND!
He says to gird ourselves with truth and put on the breastplate of righteousness. Just considering these couple weapons, think of the victory that comes our way. Jesus said we would know the truth and that it would make us free. Truth applied to our hearts and lives will bring liberty to us and our family. Then consider being covered with righteousness. Jesus was totally righteous and we are totally unrighteous. Yet he traded places with us and took our sin and gave us his holiness. So now when Satan comes at us he will see the covering of righteousness over our lives and that gives us victory.
I want to encourage you to explore the rest of what is being said in Ephesians chapter 6 on your own. Victory belongs to you and you can walk in it every day!
