Spiritual War: Daily Battle

Early in the book of Acts, Satan is found opposing the people and purposes of God. In Acts chapter 5, we read of Ananias and his wife Sapphira, who had given a certain amount of money to the work of the Lord, but lied about the amount. When Peter rebuked Ananias for his deception, he attributed the source of the lie to Satan: “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit, and to keep back some of the price of the land?” (Acts 5:3)

It is apparent that Satan is working every day against we who are God’s people. On a daily basis we need to be alert according to Peter, the apostle. The good news is God is greater and he has put his angels in charge over us and the work of the church.

I understand that a significant number of angelic beings joined with Satan during or after his rebellion against God as described in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28. They still operate in rank and order, attempting to defeat us and disturb God’s plan with humanity.

From these texts and many others, I believe that it is safe to say that Satan is the arch-enemy of the church. He is ever seeking to cause the saints to stumble and attempting to thwart the plans and purposes God has for us and the church.

The good news is “greater is he that is in us then he that is in the world”. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead is alive and working in us right now. Through and by the name of Jesus and the operation of the Holy Ghost, we can have sweet victory over the plans and purposes of the Devil in our lives and in the working of the church. I encourage you to plead the shed blood of Jesus and the victory he gained on the cross and tap into the person and power of the Holy Spirit living on the inside of you right this very moment.
